You need wall mounted reading lights…
- …at a window seat. Install the lamps on the sidewall or next to the bench;
- …when there is little or no space for table lamps;
- …if you own pets who like to jump and bring down table lamps;
- …if you need more space on your night table for books rather than for lamps;
- …If the couch can only fit up against a wall in the corner and there is no room for a table lamp and a table.
Measure the Height
First of all, decide on what height is you should mount the lights. Measure 11 inches above your head when you are sitting on the bed and leave a mark – this height will be completely adequate.
Adjust the Light
Instead of fixtures, consider adjustable wall lamps. It would be wise to have an opportunity to direct the light stream onto everything you’d like, so that you could read a book while your mate is sleeping. Choose the lamps which can extend and fold down at long distances from the wall, rotate ~270 degrees and have dimmers. Dimmer would be preferable, because the amount of electric light that you may need depends on time of the day, your mood and other things, so an ability to make illumination softer is a great idea.
Fiat Lux
Avoid too opaque shades on lamps; otherwise your bedroom will turn into a dungeon. Specialist claim that the best variant is “a softly diffused shade”
Take Size Into Account
Depending on how big your bedroom, choose the lamps of a corresponding size.
Stealth Bulbs
Choose the lamps with such shades that shield the bulbs well. If not, a glance at the lamp will burn a spot onto your retina.
Consider high-tech control
That would be extra convenient if you bother yourself with implementing a remote control unit, by which you can control all the lighting, including wall mounted reading lights, together.
